Delhi High Court Allows MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh to Attend Parliament ‘In-Custody’

The Delhi High Court has permitted Jammu & Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, currently in custody for a terror funding case, to attend the ongoing Parliament session under police escort.

A division bench of Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani directed that Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, be escorted to Parliament and returned to jail daily from March 26 to April 4.

The court imposed strict conditions, barring Rashid from using mobile or landline phones and restricting any interaction with the media while outside jail.

Rashid is facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a 2017 terror funding case. He had challenged a March 10 trial court order that denied him custody parole or interim bail for attending Lok Sabha proceedings.
