Delhi HC to Review Maintainability of Petition Demanding CBI Probe into Electoral Bond Corruption

The Delhi High Court considered a petition by Sudip Narayan Tamankar, urging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate alleged corruption related to electoral bond data.

Tamankar contended that despite filing a complaint with the CBI on April 18, no action had been taken on his request.

Advocate Pranav Sachdeva, representing Tamankar, asserted that the ongoing corruption and lack of accountability severely undermine citizens' rights to life and the rule of law.

However, the bench, comprising Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, raised concerns about the petition's maintainability, pointing out that Tamankar had previously approached the Supreme Court, which dismissed his plea in August, stating that such individual grievances should be resolved through existing legal remedies.

Nonetheless, the High Court instructed Advocate Sachdeva to provide a written submission addressing the petition's legal aspects and maintainability, scheduling the next hearing for October 29, 2024.
