Delhi HC Orders Inspection Amid Delhi Bar Council's Office Flooding Crisis

In a recent development, the Delhi High Court responded to concerns raised by the Delhi Bar Council regarding severe flooding at its Siri Fort Institutional area office during heavy rainfall.

Senior Advocate Ramesh Gupta, representing the BCD, highlighted that despite repeated complaints, the office basement faced inundation from clogged drains, exposing crucial physical records and IT infrastructure to potential damage from floodwaters carrying debris.

To address these urgent issues, Justice Sanjeev Narula's bench directed a comprehensive inspection by engineers not below the rank of Superintendent Engineering (SE), accompanied by the BCD Honorary Secretary.

The court mandated civic authorities to conduct a thorough assessment of the area and submit a detailed report by the following week.

The court expressed concern that such incidents compromise Delhi's aspirations as a global city and stressed the immediate need for remedial measures to combat waterlogging.
