Delhi HC introduced making cause lists accessible to visually impaired individuals

Recently, the Delhi High Court introduced digital initiatives on the occasion of 77th Independence Day including cause lists that are meant to be accessible to visually impaired litigants, lawyers and others.

The implementation of this initiative was done by an Accessibility Committee established within the High Court, headed by Justice Rajiv Shakhder, and with the participation of visually impaired advocates Rahul Bajaj and Amar Jain, who provided valuable feedback.

"Web Accessibility Compliant Cause List" designed to facilitate easy access for visually impaired lawyers, litigants, and the general public. This feature enables the seamless utilization of different accessibility text-to-speech software to navigate the cause list of the Delhi High Court, as announced by the High Court.

Justices Sanjeev Sachdeva, Sanjeev Narula, and Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, and several other judges attended the event. 

The new initiatives inaugurated today includes

  • 10 websites for the Delhi District Courts were launched on the S3WaaS platform.
  • Online Portals digital has been established to facilitate the sharing of Trial Court Records (TCR) with the High Court.
  • A "Web Accessibility Compliant Cause List" has been developed to cater to visually impaired lawyers, ensuring that they can access the cause list seamlessly.
