Delhi HC initiates live-streaming of Chief Justice's court cases from October 11

The Delhi High Court has announced that it will commence live-streaming its proceedings starting on October 11, Wednesday. This move is aimed at increasing transparency and making the legal process more accessible to the public.

Initially, this initiative will apply exclusively to proceedings in the Chief Justice's court, and the live-streaming will be implemented on a case-by-case basis, following the court's specific directions.

The live streaming link can be found on the homepage of the official Delhi High Court website at https://delhihighcourt.nic.in, and it is conveniently labeled as "LIVE STREAMING."

"In an effort to enhance accessibility to the judicial process, the Delhi High Court is set to commence live-streaming of court proceedings on October 11, 2023, at 10:30 am in Court No. 1, which includes Hon'ble Mr. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, the Chief Justice, and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Narula, in a specifically identified case," stated the High Court.

The Court has also mentioned that live-streaming of proceedings in Court No. 39 will be initiated in the near future.

In their communication, the High Court clarified that the content available under 'LIVE STREAMING' is intended solely for informational purposes, and the live streaming and archival data should not be regarded as the official record of court proceedings.

The High Court has explicitly stated that only authorized individuals or entities are permitted to record, share, or disseminate live-streamed proceedings or archival data. This restriction applies to all, including print and electronic media and social media platforms.

The High Court also highlighted that all its courts are operating as paperless e-courts, equipped with video conferencing and hybrid hearing capabilities. Additionally, all cases, responses, replies, documents, and related materials are exclusively e-filed through the Online c-Filing System. This digital approach reflects the court's commitment to modernization and efficiency in its proceedings.
