Delhi Govt Announces Special Courts to Address Needs of People with Disabilities
The Delhi government has announced the creation of special courts focused on addressing the needs of people with disabilities. This initiative, approved by Chief Minister Atishi, is designed to make the judicial process more accessible, ensuring fair, swift, and inclusive justice for individuals with disabilities.
“This is a historic step by the Delhi government toward ensuring justice for people with disabilities,” said CM Atishi.
“By approving the establishment of these special courts, we are reforming the judicial system to better serve the interests of those with disabilities.”
Chief Minister Atishi emphasized that these new courts will help reduce the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities in accessing legal services. The initiative aims to build their trust in the justice system and ensure their rights are fully protected.
She added, “People with disabilities are an integral part of our society, and we must protect their rights. These special courts will ease their participation in legal proceedings and eliminate the barriers they often encounter".
The special courts will prioritize the prompt resolution of cases involving individuals with disabilities, aiming to prevent unnecessary delays and procedural complexities. These courts will be specifically designed to accommodate the unique needs of persons with disabilities, ensuring that judicial proceedings are conducted in a fully inclusive and accessible environment.
“At the heart of this initiative is the principle that no person with a disability should be denied justice. Simplifying the judicial process for them is our priority,” Atishi stressed.
Calling the decision a crucial step in judicial reform, Atishi added, “These courts not only protect the interests of people with disabilities but also open new avenues for equality and justice in society. The Delhi government remains committed to safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities, and this initiative is an essential part of that commitment.”
