A Public Holiday has been proclaimed for the entire National Capital Territory of Delhi during the G-20 Summit period. This notification, bearing No. 53/634/CN/GAD/2023/dsgadi/1802, dated 24th August 2023, outlines the specifics of the closures and holidays, ensuring a smooth and efficient functioning of the event.

The key details of the notification are as follows:

  1. Government Organizations:

    • All Government Departments, Public Undertakings, Corporations, Boards, and Statutory Bodies will remain closed on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of September, 2023.
    • Additionally, there will be a public holiday on the 9th and 10th of September due to the weekend falling on these days.
  2. Private Offices and Educational Institutions:

    • Private offices and educational institutions that observe Saturday and Sunday as their regular days off will remain closed on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of September, 2023.
    • Similarly, those institutions where Sunday is a public holiday will also remain closed on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of September.
  3. Commercial Banks and Financial Institutions:

    • Commercial banks and financial institutions in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, where Sunday is not considered a public holiday, will observe a public holiday on the 10th of September, 2023.
  4. Closure of Shops and Commercial Establishments:

    • As per Section 16 (3) (i) of The Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954, all shops and commercial establishments within the jurisdiction of New Delhi Police District (as shown in the attached map) will remain closed from the 8th to the 10th of September, 2023.
