Delhi Court to Deliver Verdict in 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots Murder Case Against Ex-Congress MP Sajjan Kumar on January 21

A Delhi court is set to pronounce its verdict on January 21 in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots murder case against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar.

The case involves the alleged killings of Jaswant Singh and his son, Tarundeep Singh, in Saraswati Vihar during the riots. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja deferred the ruling, initially scheduled for Wednesday, and set the new date for January 21. Kumar, currently in Tihar Jail, appeared via videoconference.

The case had been investigated by a special team after being initially registered at Punjabi Bagh police station. Charges were framed against Kumar on December 16, 2021, after the court found sufficient evidence linking him to the killings.

The prosecution claims that Kumar led a violent mob responsible for looting, arson, and murder to avenge the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
