Delhi Court Takes Cognizance of ED's Supplementary Chargesheet Against CM Kejriwal

A Delhi Court on Tuesday mentioned the supplementary chargesheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Courts has taken cognizance of the seventh supplementary prosecution complaint filed against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party in the money laundering case. The court has issued a production warrant for Kejriwal for July 12.

The court also took cognizance of the ED's eighth supplementary chargesheet against accused Vinod Chauhan and Ashish Mathur. Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) examined Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement. This occurred hours after the Delhi High Court stayed the bail granted to him in the PMLA case. With the court's permission, the CBI examined Kejriwal in court on June 26 and then formally arrested him in connection with the case.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21. In May, he was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court until June 1 in view of the general elections. He surrendered on June 2.

Kejriwal has challenged his arrest by the CBI and the three days of police custody remand before the Delhi High Court. He has also filed a plea seeking bail in the corruption case. Both cases are scheduled for a hearing on July 17.
