The High Court of Orissa will be closed on Thursday and Friday in response to the impending cyclonic storm Dana, as announced in an official notification.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the cyclone, with wind speeds potentially reaching up to 120 km/h, is expected to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port in Odisha by Friday morning.
“In light of the approaching natural calamity, the functioning of the court and high court offices will remain suspended on October 24 and 25,” stated a notification issued by the registrar (judicial) of the High Court on Wednesday.
Additionally, the court has designated November 30 and December 7, both Saturdays, as working days, and the calendar has been updated accordingly.
In related news, Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain has urged devotees to refrain from visiting the 12th-century Jagannath temple over the next two days due to the cyclone.
