Court Sets June 7 Hearing in Defamation Case Against Rahul Gandhi Over Alleged Remarks Against Amit Shah

A June 7 hearing has been scheduled by an MP-MLA court for the 2018 defamation case involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and BJP leader Vijay Mishra, over remarks allegedly directed at Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Rahul Gandhi's lawyer requested time due to his engagement in Lok Sabha poll campaigning, prompting the court to set the next hearing for June 7. Plaintiff's counsel expressed concerns about Gandhi's perceived avoidance of court proceedings.

Previously, a warrant was issued against Gandhi in December, leading to his appearance in court and subsequent bail during a break in his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi on February 20.

The defamation complaint stems from remarks made by Gandhi against Shah during a press conference in Bengaluru on August 4, 2018.
