Contempt of Court: Gujarat High Court seeks answer from Trial Court why case is pending for 45 years

The High Court of Gujarat has sought clarification from the Trial Court in a case pending before it for the last 45 years. The High Court has sought the details of the case and order sheet since 2005 till today. 

The High Court has also asked the trial court as to what has been done by the trial judge and also give a clarification for that. It is to be noted that the High Court passed an order in this case in the year 2005 for an expeditious hearing. Now the court has passed the order in the contempt of court case. 

The case of property dispute was instituted in 1977 in the Anand District of Gujarat. The trial court passed an order of expeditious hearing on 30th June 2005 to complete the hearing in the case by 31st December 2005 but the hearing has not been concluded till today.

The bench of Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Arvind Kumar has passed an order in the case to give details and clarification as to which judge heard the case and dates of the hearing and what everything took place. The details are to be furnished in a sealed cover
