Collegium confirms the appointment of advocate Nagendra Ramachandra Naik to the Karnataka HC

On January 10, the Supreme Court Collegium decided to re-appoint advocate Nagendra Ramachandra Naik as a Karnataka High Court judge. "The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 10 January 2023 has, on reconsideration, resolved to reiterate its earlier recommendation for elevation of Shri Nagendra Ramachandra Naik, Advocate as judge in the Karnataka High Court," the Collegium statement released on Tuesday said.

The Karnataka High Court is currently operating with 49 judges as opposed to the sanctioned 62 - a vacancy position of 13.

This is the third time Collegium has mentioned Naik's name. His name was first suggested in 2019 and then again in March and September of the following year.
