Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, has unveiled a menstrual leave policy to support menstruating students, furthering its commitment to student welfare. With this decision, CNLU joins the ranks of other NLUs, including those in Jabalpur, Hyderabad, Assam, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam, that have implemented similar initiatives.
The policy was approved during the CNLU Executive Committee meeting held on December 17. Prominent attendees included Bihar’s Advocate General PK Sahi, Education Department Secretary Baidya Nath Yadav, State Law Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, and other notable figures from academia and law.
Apart from the menstrual leave policy, the university has introduced measures allowing students to tailor their academic journey. Students will now have the flexibility to complete courses at their own pace, alleviating stress from rigid academic schedules. Additionally, they can fast-track their degrees by enrolling in more courses each year.
Welcoming these reforms, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faizan Mustafa emphasized the need to prioritize students' well-being. Expressing concern over academic pressure leading to tragic outcomes, he reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a balanced and enriching campus life.
CNLU has also announced the launch of programs in cyber security and digital forensics. These initiatives aim to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge while offering specialized training for police personnel in forensics.
Further reforms include revised LL.M regulations, with a 50% increase in research components, and a preference for recruiting faculty with foreign degrees from prestigious universities.
These progressive steps underscore CNLU’s dedication to creating a supportive, innovative, and student-focused academic environment.
