Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud inaugurated the e-DHCR portal on Monday, a new platform dedicated to reportable judgments from the Delhi High Court. This portal, serving as the official law report for the court's judgments, houses over 2,000 decisions from 2007 to May 2024.
At the event, Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) of the Delhi High Court, Manmohan, emphasized that the e-DHCR portal offers free access to these judgments. It aims to be a valuable resource for lawyers, litigants, law students, legal enthusiasts, and the general public by providing a convenient reference tool.
“We have implemented an AI-powered advanced search algorithm to improve search accuracy and provide personalized recommendations based on user interactions. This will help users navigate through legal information more efficiently and accurately. Additionally, the e-DHCR portal offers multiple search options and filters, making it easier for users to find relevant information. We have also included features such as highlighting of searched words, voice search and graphs,” ACJ Manmohan highlighted.
He added that the platform promotes inclusivity by offering features such as screen readers, high-contrast options, and keyboard navigation.
Meanwhile, CJI Chandrachud emphasized that this initiative will benefit the legal community by encouraging the adoption of technology for a better future, promoting accessibility and sustainability, and enhancing legal research capabilities.
“As technology advances, the legal system must evolve accordingly. Lawyers and litigants relying on electronic tools cannot be asked to revert to outdated paper systems. The march of technology is unstoppable, and our courts must embrace these changes to enhance accessibility and efficiency. Each technological advancement, including the E-DHCR portal, plays a crucial role in building a more accessible and efficient justice system.''
''I urge each one of you to continue to support and advocate for these transformative changes to ensure that justice remains within reach for everyone,” the CJI said.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Justice Yashwant Varma, the chairperson of the e-DHCR Committee.
