On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court stated that children cannot be compelled to participate in coaching centers.
The bench rejected the Public Interest petition that had sought to direct the State government to formulate a policy connecting coaching centers with schools and colleges.
The division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula's bench stated that the court cannot instruct the Delhi government to create such a policy.
The bench mentioned that coaching is purely an option.
Further, the Court stated that neither is it mandatory for children to take coaching nor can any child be compelled to attend coaching centers. Therefore, the court cannot give directions to the state government to formulate a policy connecting coaching centers with schools and colleges.
The petition was filed by Girish Kumari Gupta before the High Court. In her petition, she argued that there is a large number of coaching centers in the country, so the Delhi government should formulate a policy to connect them with schools and colleges.
In response, the Delhi government's lawyer, Santosh Kumar Tripathi, stated that no orders can be issued to the government to make laws. He also mentioned that it is not feasible to connect such coaching centers with schools and colleges.
