Recently, Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha unveiled the RTI Online Web Portal, aimed at facilitating the Right to Information (RTI) process. This portal, launched for both the Chhattisgarh High Court and the state's district judiciary, ushers in a new era of citizen empowerment by providing digital access to information.
The platform simplifies the RTI process with features such as online filing, enabling citizens to submit applications directly without visiting offices. Real-time tracking of application status promotes transparency, while online payment options expedite the process, making it more efficient.
Chief Justice Sinha underscored the vital role that access to information plays in empowering citizens to actively participate in governance. He praised the Right to Information Act, 2005, as transformative legislation that grants citizens the legal right to access information held by public authorities. He further described the new RTI portal as a major step toward improving transparency, predicting it will revolutionize the way citizens interact with public institutions.
The Chief Justice expressed confidence that this digital initiative will not only strengthen citizen oversight but also encourage good governance by fostering a more transparent and responsive administration. With this centralized platform, public authorities are expected to remain more accountable to the citizens they serve, enhancing civic engagement across the state.
