Centre Approves Appointment of Five Advocates as Additional Judges of Bombay HC

The Central government on Wednesday approved the appointment of five advocates as additional judges of the Bombay High Court for a term of two years.

Union Minister of State for Law, Arjun Ram Meghwal, announced the appointments through his official Twitter account, with the notification also being published on the Law Ministry's website.

The five advocates are:

  • Nivedita Prakash Mehta;

  • Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar;

  • Ashwin Damodar Bhobe;

  • Rohit Wasudeo Joshi; and

  • Advait Mahendra Sethna.

According to the Collegium resolution, the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court recommended the elevation of these five lawyers on January 19, 2024. Currently, the Bombay High Court is operating with 64 judges, while the sanctioned strength is 94.
