The Central Government has approved the appointment of Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri as a judge of the Allahabad High Court.
According to a notification dated January 23, issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice:
"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Praveen Kumar Giri, to be a Judge of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."
The Supreme Court Collegium had proposed Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri's name for appointment on December 22, 2024.
With his appointment, the Allahabad High Court's working strength will increase to 79 judges, compared to its sanctioned capacity of 160.
