Central Govt Appoints Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey as Permanent Judge of Chhattisgarh HC

Today,  the Central Government officially announced the appointment of Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey as a permanent judge for the Chhattisgarh High Court.

On May 9th, a notification regarding this appointment was posted on the website of the Ministry of Law & Justice.

Further, another notification was released, stating that Justices Sachin Singh Rajput and Radhakishan Agrawal, who currently serve as additional judges at the High Court, would be granted fresh one-year terms as additional judges upon the expiration of their current terms.

The recommendations for these appointments were initially made by the Collegium of the Chhattisgarh High Court on November 22, 2023. Subsequently, on April 4, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium endorsed these recommendations.

As of May 1st, the Chhattisgarh High Court was operating with 16 judges, although the sanctioned strength is 22. Among these judges, 10 held permanent positions, while 6 served as additional judges.
