The Central Government has assigned the investigation of alleged irregularities in the 2024 NEET (UG) Examination to the CBI. In an official press release, the Ministry of Education announced that reports of "alleged irregularities, cheating, and impersonation" have surfaced regarding the NEET UG exam conducted on May 5.
The Government of India stated that following a review, it has decided to entrust the investigation to the CBI to ensure "transparency in the examination process."
The Supreme Court has issued a notice regarding a series of petitions requesting a CBI investigation into the alleged malpractices in NEET UG 2024. These petitions, which also call for the cancellation of the exam and its results followed by a re-exam, are scheduled for a hearing on July 8. Meanwhile, the Bihar police are currently investigating an alleged paper leak in Patna.
In a related development, the NEET PG exam scheduled for June 23 was postponed by Centre on Saturday night.
The Government also replaced the NTA head yesterday.
