Central Government Approves Permanent Appointment of Justice Abhay Ahuja to Bombay HC

On Tuesday, the Central government approved the permanent appointment of Justice Abhay Ahuja as a judge of the Bombay High Court, elevating him from his previous position as an additional judge.

On January 23, 2024, the Department of Justice, Union Ministry of Law and Justice, issued a notification confirming the approval for the permanent appointment of Justice Abhay Ahuja as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

On January 4, the Supreme Court collegium recommended the permanent appointment of Justice Abhay Ahuja, a decision that has now been officially confirmed by the Department of Justice, Union Ministry of Law and Justice, through a notification issued on January 23, 2024.

In January 2022, his term was extended by the Central Government until March 2023, following a recommendation by the Collegium in November 2021.

This term was further extended, with effect from March 4, 2023.
