Central Government appoints Justice Nitin Jamdar as Acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court

Yesterday, the Central government notified the appointment of Justice Nitin Jamdar as acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Justice Jamdar will take over the post from May 31 upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice RD Dhanuka.

A notification to this effect was published by the Department of Justice website.

"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, Judge of Bombay High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from May 31, 2023 consequent upon the retirement of Justice Ramesh Deokinandan Dhanuka, Chief Justice, Bombay High Court on May 30, 2023," the notification said.

Justice Nitin Jamdar was born in Solapur into a family of lawyers, being the third generation to pursue a career in the legal field.
