Calcutta HC Grants Bail to TV Journalist Arrested in Sandeshkhali by WB Police

Today, a television journalist, who had been arrested by the West Bengal Police in the tumultuous Sandeshkhali region was granted bail by the Calcutta High Court.

Additionally, the court issued a stay on any further proceedings in the case filed against Santu Pan at the Sandeshkhali police station. Justice Kausik Chanda granted bail to the journalist, who works for Republic Bangla, upon his petition.

Pan was arrested by the police on Monday in Sandeshkhali. A local court in North 24 Parganas district remanded him to police custody for three days on Tuesday.

Pan was arrested based on a complaint filed by a woman alleging that he had trespassed into her house.
