Bombay HC Restrains Political Parties and Individuals from Calling for Maharashtra Bandh

On Friday, the Bombay High Court issued an order restraining political parties and individuals from calling for a Maharashtra bandh.

This ruling comes in response to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance's planned statewide shut-down on August 24 to protest the alleged sexual assault of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur, Thane district.

The Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Amit Borkar, directed the Maharashtra government to take all necessary measures to prevent the bandh.
