The Delhi branch of the BJP has issued a defamation notice to Atishi, a prominent leader of the AAP, insisting on a public apology. This demand comes in response to Atishi's assertion that the BJP had approached her through an intimate associate, suggesting that she either join the BJP or face potential arrest by the Enforcement Directorate within a month.
During a press conference held in New Delhi on April 3, Virendra Sachdeva, the chief of Delhi's BJP, announced that a defamation notice had been dispatched to Atishi, urging her to issue a public apology for her allegations. Sachdeva emphasized Atishi's failure to substantiate her claims regarding who approached her, the method, and the timing of the approach.
He suggested that the AAP's current situation in Delhi may have prompted these unfounded accusations out of desperation. Sachdeva asserted that they would not allow Atishi to evade accountability for her statements.
Furthermore, he challenged Atishi to surrender her phone for scrutiny by investigative authorities to validate her assertions.
The legal representative of the Delhi BJP stated that the party has issued a defamation notice to Atishi, urging her to retract her statement, which he described as "false, defamatory, and concocted." He alleged that Atishi's statement was made with malicious intent.
Additionally, he warned that if Atishi does not substantiate her claims, further legal measures will be pursued against her.
