Bengaluru Police Files Chargesheet Against Former MP Prajwal Revanna in Second Rape and Sexual Assault Case

The Bengaluru police have submitted a chargesheet in the second case against former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of rape and sexual assault, in a special court. Revanna is currently in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Jail.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is examining four separate cases involving him, according to officials on Friday.

The second case, filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on May 1, involves accusations from a 44-year-old former member of the Hassan Zilla Panchayat, who alleges repeated rape by Revanna. The SIT's comprehensive investigation included questioning over 120 witnesses and recording statements from victims and key witnesses.

"A 1691 page comprehensive chargesheet has been filed against former Hassan Lok Sabha constituency MP Prajwal Revanna. The chargesheet has been submitted to a special court here after collecting evidence and obtaining expert opinions," it stated.

The allegations of sexual abuse surfaced after pen drives containing explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna were reportedly circulated in Hassan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls on April 26. In the wake of these allegations, the Janata Dal (Secular) party suspended Revanna from its ranks.

Revanna had recently failed to retain his Hassan parliamentary constituency in the elections.
