BCI Releases AIBE XIX Notification: Registration starts from September 3
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially released the notification for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XIX, scheduled for early next year.
This exam is a crucial step for law graduates to obtain their Certificate of Practice, enabling them to practice law across India. Below are the essential details and instructions as outlined in the latest notification.
Examination Details:
- Examination Date: The AIBE XIX is set to be held on January 5, 2025. Candidates must ensure they are fully prepared by this date.
- Mode of Examination: The exam will be conducted offline, in a pen-and-paper format, across various centers in India.
- Syllabus and Pattern: The examination will cover the entire syllabus prescribed by the Bar Council of India. It will test the candidate’s knowledge in multiple areas of law, including Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Family Law, among others.
- Duration: The total duration of the examination will be 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Who Can Apply: The examination is open to all law graduates who have successfully completed their LL.B. degree and have enrolled as advocates with any State Bar Council.
- Enrollment Requirement: Candidates must have enrolled with the respective State Bar Council after July 1, 2024, to be eligible to apply for the AIBE XIX.
- No Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for taking the exam.
Application Process:
- Online Registration: The registration for AIBE XIX will commence on September 10, 2024. Candidates are required to register online through the official website of the Bar Council of India.
- Application Fee: The application fee for General/OBC category candidates is ₹3,500, while for SC/ST candidates, it is ₹2,500.
- Last Date to Apply: The last date for online registration is October 31, 2024. Candidates must ensure that they complete their registration process well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute issues.
- Admit Cards: Admit cards will be available for download from December 15, 2024. Candidates must bring a printed copy of their admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination center.
Important Instructions:
- Adherence to Rules: Candidates must strictly adhere to the instructions provided in the admit card. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
- No Electronic Devices: The use of electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, and smartwatches is strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
- Open Book Exam: AIBE XIX will be an open book examination. Candidates are allowed to bring their Bare Acts (with no notes) to the examination hall.
- Result Declaration: The results will be declared in February 2025. Successful candidates will be awarded the Certificate of Practice by the Bar Council of India.
