BCI Bans Practice of 656 Lawyers in Rajasthan for Not Clearing AIBE in Time

The Bar Council of India has banned advocates who completed their LLB after July 1, 2010, and failed to pass the AIBE exam within two years of registration as a lawyer from practicing.

As per the various sources, these advocates will no longer be allowed to appear in any court in Rajasthan. This decision has affected 656 advocates in Sikar.

The General Secretary of the Sikar Bar Association, Naresh Kumar Bhukar, stated that the Bar Council of Rajasthan has sent a list of 656 lawyers from Sikar who have been debarred.

The association has posted this list, containing the names, enrollment numbers, and LLB passing years of these advocates, on the court's notice board. Now, these advocates must pass the AIBE exam again to resume practicing in court.

Further, it was mentioned that the Bar Association has emailed the Bar Council of Rajasthan for consultation, and further action will be taken after receiving a response.

The said decision has caused a stir in the district. Some of the debarred lawyers have been practicing for 10–15 years. As per the sources, One of them had even contested the Sikar Bar elections.

Many lawyers registered with the Sikar Bar Association, who have not passed the AIBE exam even after two years of registration, are now in confusion. Under the new rules, passing the exam is mandatory; otherwise, their registration will be considered canceled, and they will not be allowed to appear in any court.
