Bail granted in beef selling case: Karnataka HC granted anticipatory bail to a man accused of selling beef at mutton shop.

The Karnataka High Court recently granted anticipatory bail to a man who was accused of selling beef at a mutton shop.

The case was heard by Justice TG Shivashankare Gowda. The court observed that the offenses alleged against the petitioner were not punishable by death or life imprisonment.

The petitioner's lawyer, Advocate Tejas N, informed the court that his client had a 60% disability and that no beef was found in his possession. The petitioner expressed his willingness to comply with any conditions set by the court for the grant of anticipatory bail.

The High Court Government Pleader (HCGP), Rahul Rai, argued that the petitioner, from his mutton shop, was selling beef and that his custodial interrogation was necessary for a proper investigation.

The court took note that the main accused in the case had already been arrested and released on bail by the trial court. Considering this, the court concluded that there were sufficient grounds to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

As a result, the court granted anticipatory bail to the petitioner, subject to the condition that he executes a personal bond of ₹1,00,000 with one surety for the same amount, along with other conditions determined by the court.
