Today, Atiq Ahmed sister Ayesha Noori approaches the Supreme Court to investigate the murder of gangster-turned-mafia and then politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed.
In his petition filed in the Supreme Court, the encounter of Atiq's son Asad was also called suspicious.
In her petition, Ayesha has demanded the formation of a commission of inquiry under the chairmanship of a former Supreme Court judge.
Significantly, on April 28, the Supreme Court had sought a status report from the UP government on the PIL filed by a lawyer named Vishal Tiwari in this case. On July 3, she is engaged for PIL hearing.
Ateeq and Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead in the month of April when he was taken into the custody of the UP police in the Umesh Pal murder case and the police late night medical checkup of both the mafia brothers Was taking her to the hospital to get it done. At the same time, three assailants who came posing as media personnel shot them at point blank range, due to which both the brothers died on the spot.
After shooting Atiq-Ashraf Ahmed, the three attackers surrendered to the police and the police arrested them and took them away. Atiq was killed in the evening on which his son Asad was handed over to the ashes. In fact, this mafia family, which was already marginalised, came under trouble when its son Asad and the rest of the gang shot and killed a lawyer, Umesh Pal, in broad daylight.
His move of 'Milding the mafia to the ground' was seen as a challenge to Iqbal's rule of law and order under the rule of CM Yogi Adityanath of the state. The matter became more complicated when in the assembly session, the leader of the opposition party, Akhilesh Yadav, taunted him about the investigation of this murder case. In response to this, CM Yogi said that his government will work to destroy the mafia.
