Andhra Pradesh HC rejects Chandrababu Naidu's bail petitions in three cases

On Monday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court rejected three bail requests submitted by TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu in various legal cases.

Naidu had approached the court to request regular bail in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road and Angallu attack cases, as well as an anticipatory bail in the FiberNet case.

The Amaravati Inner Ring Road case revolves around allegations of "manipulating" the master plan of Amaravati's capital city, specifically concerning the alignment of the inner ring road and the seed capital. These alleged actions were believed to have provided unfair benefits to several companies during Naidu's tenure.

The Angallu case is related to the riots that occurred during a political rally led by the TDP chief in August. During the incident in Angallu, which is located in Annamayya district, and Punganuru in Chittoor district, there were reports of injuries to several policemen and supporters of both the TDP and the ruling YSRCP. The injuries were a result of incidents involving stone pelting, arson, and a riot.

The FiberNet case is connected to allegations of tender manipulation in the allocation of a work order worth Rs 330 crore under Phase-1 of the AP FiberNet Project to a favored company.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has alleged that irregularities occurred throughout the entire process, from the allocation of the tender to the completion of the entire project. These alleged irregularities are said to have resulted in a significant financial loss to the state's treasury.

At present, N Chandrababu Naidu is in judicial remand at the Rajamahendravaram central prison. This detention is related to allegations of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which is claimed to have resulted in a reported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
