Allahabad HC seeks UP govt response in Akanksha Dubey suicide, CBI probe petition

On Monday, the Allahabad High Court requested the Uttar Pradesh government to submit its response within three weeks regarding a writ petition that is requesting a CBI investigation into the reported suicide of Bhojpuri film actress and model Akanksha Dubey.

Madhu Dubey, who is the mother of Akanksha Dubey, has filed a petition requesting a central agency investigation. She alleges that the behavior of the local police in this case raises doubts and lacks credibility.

During the hearing of the writ petition, a division bench consisting of Justice Anjani Kumar Mishra and Justice Vivek Kumar Singh has instructed that the case should be scheduled for another hearing after a period of five weeks.

In her petition, Madhu Dubey has made allegations of multiple irregularities in the ongoing investigation being carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Additionally, she has asserted that the police have been collaborating with criminals in this matter.

The petitioner has expressed skepticism regarding the Uttar Pradesh Police's assertion that her daughter's death was a result of suicide. She has drawn attention to the omission of pertinent sections related to rape in the charge sheet. The petitioner has argued that the forensic science laboratory report has substantiated the presence of sperm in both the vaginal slide and vaginal swab stick of the deceased, as well as in her undergarments.

The petitioner argued that there is a lack of DNA test results for the accused or the suspected individual on record, and there hasn't been a substantial effort to match the DNA test results of the semen or sperm with the suspected blood sample.

Based on the details of the case, Akanksha Dubey was in Varanasi for the filming of a movie. After the conclusion of the shoot, she returned to her hotel room, where she was discovered deceased on March 26, 2023.

Following these events, in April, two individuals were arrested as suspects in the case: Samar Singh, a singer, and Sanjay Singh, who is a business partner of Samar Singh. Sanjay Singh has already been granted bail by the trial court. Meanwhile, Samar Singh's bail petition is currently awaiting a decision by the high court.
