11-Year-Old Defends His Life in SC, amidst False Murder Allegations by Father

Recently, an 11-year-old boy made a compelling appearance before the Supreme Court, seeking to establish his continued existence and challenging the authenticity of a murder case in which he was implicated. The genesis of this case can be traced back to false allegations made by the boy's father, who accused his grandfather and uncles of orchestrating his death. The incident led to the registration of a murder case by the Uttar Pradesh Police in Pilibhit.

Abhay Singh, the young boy, has persistently sought to have the case dismissed and establish his continued existence. He even presented his case before a bench in the Allahabad High Court, but unfortunately, his petition was rejected, compelling him to take his plea to the Supreme Court.

Last Friday, Abhay Singh appeared before a division bench of the Supreme Court, emphatically declaring, "I am indeed alive." Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the court has initiated the process of requesting reports from the Uttar Pradesh government, the Superintendent of Police in Pilibhit, and the station house officer at the Neuria police station.

The court has also directed authorities to not take any coercive steps against the boy and his grandfather till further orders.

Abhay said, "I am safe and staying with my grandparents. The police keep coming to our house and threatens my grandparents. I want to continue staying with them, and hence want the case to be closed."According to the boy's lawyer, Kuldeep Jauhari, the young boy has been residing with his maternal grandfather since 2013. This arrangement was necessitated by the fact that his father was reportedly abusive towards his mother and had been demanding additional dowry.

Tragically, after the mother's passing, the boy's maternal grandfather pursued legal action against the father. In a retaliatory move, the father lodged allegations against the grandfather and other relatives, accusing them of being responsible for Abhay's murder. The Supreme Court is scheduled to resume the case in January.
